
How to pick the right heater for your bathroom
Nobody likes stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom. It’s a shock to the system. But here’s the thing: you don’t just want to throw the most powerful heater you can find at the problem. If you do, you’ll end up baking yourself alive in a tiny room and wasting a ton of electricity. Our ceiling heaters work differently than a space heater. They don’t just blow hot air around; they send radiant heat straight down to warm you up.
Getting the wattage right
The goal is to match the power to the size of your room. If you’re dealing with a tiny powder room (under 4m²), keep it simple. A250W to 400Wlamp is plenty. Anything more and you’ll be sweating in minutes. For a standard-sized bathroom (4m² to 8m²), go for something in the600W to 800Wrange. Then you have the big master baths or wet rooms (10m² and up). These are tricky because they have more “cold spots.” You’ll likely need1000W or more, or maybe a couple of smaller units spread out so every corner feels cozy. And a quick tip: don’t overdo it. If the heater is too powerful for the space, the thermostat will keep clicking on and off every few seconds. It’s annoying, and it wears out the internals much faster.
A few things to keep in mind
Ceiling height actually matters more than you’d think. A 1000W lamp feels like a heatwave if your ceiling is low (around 2.2 meters). But if you have high, vaulted ceilings, that heat has further to travel, so you’ll need more power to actually feel the warmth by the time it hits the floor. We use quartz glass because it heats up almost instantly. It’s great, but remember that high-wattage lamps get seriously hot at the base. Just make sure your ceiling housing is rated for that kind of heat so you don’t accidentally scorch your ceiling.
Making it work for you
If you want the best experience, put the heater exactly where you’ll be standing—like right above the shower or the vanity. The shorter the distance the heat has to travel, the better it feels. Plus, if you wire them into a timer or a motion sensor, you don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving them on all day. Just match the power to your room size, keep it simple, and enjoy the warmth.
