
Why we put our bathroom lamps through hell before they reach you
Bathrooms are honestly a nightmare for electronics. You’ve got thick steam from the shower, sudden temperature jumps, and constant humidity. It’s the perfect recipe for a heating element to just… quit. We’ve seen it happen too many times: a tiny seal fails, the filament oxidizes, and suddenly your heater is a paperweight. We aren’t interested in guessing if a batch is “good enough.” That’s why we put every single one through a damp-heat aging test. We basically try to break them so you don’t have to. The battle against moisture Most of these infrared heaters use quartz glass tubes. Quartz is great for heat, but the real trouble starts where the electrodes meet the glass. That seal is the only thing standing between your heater and a short circuit. If there’s even a microscopic gap, moisture crawls in. It eats away at the electrodes and—boom—the lamp dies the second you flip the switch. To stop this, we throw our lamps into high-humidity chambers. We push the dew point to the limit, forcing moisture into every possible crack. If it can survive our chamber, it can survive your shower. The “Thermal Shock” problem It’s not just about the wetness, though. It’s the cycle. Think about it: one second the lamp is cold, the next it’s hundreds of degrees. Then it cools back down in a damp room. That constant expanding and shrinking is brutal. It can crack cheap seals or loosen electrical connections. Our aging tests make sure the materials can take that beating without the glass fracturing. The honest trade-off Here’s the thing: making a lamp truly waterproof means adding reinforced seals and gaskets. This makes the heater a bit bulkier and changes how the heat spreads compared to those raw, industrial lamps you see in factories. You lose a tiny bit of that “instant blast” of heat. But in exchange? You get a product that actually lasts. We decided that a 5,000-hour lifespan is way more important than a marginal gain in raw heat. Because at the end of the day, a slightly less intense heater that actually works is a lot better than a powerful one that burns out in a month.
