
Stop Throwing Away Your Bathroom Mirrors
Most bathroom mirror heaters are basically disposable. One little heating element burns out, and suddenly the whole thing is headed for the landfill. It’s a waste, and honestly, it’s annoying. We decided to stop doing that. Instead, we rebuilt the infrared heating system to be modular.
Why bother with modules?
Here’s the thing: infrared tubes don’t last forever. Depending on your power stability and how often you use them, they eventually wear out. In a typical mirror, replacing one of these tubes is a nightmare. You have to rip apart the entire housing and mess around with soldering irons just to fix one part. We changed the design so the heating element sits in its own removable cassette. It’s a simple drop-in replacement. If a tube dies after five years, you don’t toss the mirror. You just pull the module out, pop in a new tube, and slide it back in.Done.
The trade-offs
We use shortwave infrared emitters because they’re fast. You feel the heat immediately without having to wait for the whole room to warm up. But these tubes get hot—really hot. To keep the mirror backing from scorching, we added a reflective heat shield that pushes all that energy forward. Now, this does take up a bit more room. A modular chassis is bulkier than a raw tube wired straight to a circuit board. You lose a few millimeters of space inside the frame, but in exchange, you get a unit you can actually fix in under ten minutes. That feels like a fair trade to me.
Fixing it in the real world
When you’re actually installing or repairing these, the connectors are all standardized. You don’t need a toolkit full of weird, specialized gear. This means you don’t have to call in a factory technician and wait three days for a visit. Any facility manager can just pull the module and plug in a new one. It turns a massive headache of a repair into a quick, routine part swap.
